High Rigidity and High Precision with Zero Clearance Rolling Guideways

The essential multi-degree-of-freedom joints for parallel mechanisms have conventionally been obtained 2 to 3 degrees of freedom with combinations of spherical joints. However, such spherical joints combinations often lead to structural complexity and bulkiness. There are multi-degree-of-freedom sliding spherical ball bearings available, but they come with large frictional resistance and internal clearance issues. Hephaist has developed SRJ – Spherical Rolling Joints as the solutions to all these issues.

  1. Delivered with rust-preventive oil as standard. If the customer specifies a grease, it will be applied.
  2. When the axis is turned, the retainer projects beyond the bottom of the housing, so the mounting face on the other side has to be machined to create a recess.

Reduced height contributes to the utilization of limited space

SRJ is widely used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment and optical equipment due to its compatibility with tilt mechanisms.

In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for reducing the height of the tilt mechanism. We have added a short shaft type to our product lineup that reduces the height by shortening the shaft while maintaining the conventional high rigidity and high accuracy.

What is HRSU ?

HRSU saves time and effort for procurement and assembling of parts

About shaft end machining

  • Both ends of the shaft are machinable, the user can do machining at the user ends.
  • Both ends of the shaft (from the shaft end to the laser marking, 20mm each) are machinable.
    (refer to the figure above: for dimensions, refer to the backside).
  • While machining the shaft, be careful not to damage or allow foreign matter to enter the spline unit.
  • It is also possible to draw the shaft out of the spline unit and then machine it.

In this case, pay attention to the following points.

-Pull the shaft out slowly in the stroke direction.

-While machining it, be careful not to bend the shaft and not to damage the part of the shaft outside the machinable range.

  • Align the match mark (or set screw in the case of the M type) with the serial number as shown in the figure above, and insert the shaft slowly.

Once the shaft has been removed from the spline unit, or the end of the shaft has been machined, the shaft runout is no longer covered by the warranty.

  1. Do not disassemble any part of this product. This will lead to contamination and reduced accuracy.
  2. Take care when tilting this product as the outer casing and shaft may fall due to their own weight.
  3. Do not drop or physically shock this product. Such action will cause the product to become damaged or fail.
  4. Store this product horizontally in an environment free from condensation. Avoid storing this product in humid environments with high or low temperatures.
  1. Lubricate this product before use with the lubricant prescribed by HEPHAIST. Always remove the anti-rust oil coating before applying lubricant.
  2. Contact your HEPHAIST representative if you wish to use a special type of lubricant.
  3. Contact your HEPHAIST representative regarding grease.
  1. Prevent contamination of the product because dust or other contaminants will cause reduced performance or damage or failure. If the product becomes contaminated, contact your HEPHAIST representative.
  2. Use this product in an environment free from condensation with low humidity and moderate temperatures
  3. Contact your HEPHAIST representative if you wish to use this product in a special environment (such as a cleanroom or within a vacuum, etc.).

Ultra-thin stage with electric actuators placed on the single plane

  • It makes the center of gravity of the entire equipment lower enough.
  • Various table movements are possible by operating three actuators placed on the single plane individually.

Operating Principle

Driving the U axis moves the table in the X direction

Driving the V and W axes the same amount in the same direction moves the table in the Y direction

Driving the V and W axes the same amount in the same direction while driving the U axis moves the table diagonally

NAF3series Type-C

NAF3 Series Type-C uses “preloaded double slide structure”, which places an intermediate plate sandwiched between two upper and lower plates for 3-axis actuator (U/V/W) and slide section.

Lots of balls placed between each plate allow smooth planar rolling motion, “Preloaded double slide structure” makes stages thin, compact and highly rigid for highly accurate positioning.

NAF3series Type-D

Type-D does not use “preloaded double slide structure”, Type-D possesses unique advantages with a wide range of motion and a larger central opening.

The Pressure Change Method (A) with absolute/relative pressure sensors is one of the simplest and most reliable methods for leak testing. The test object is subjected to overpressure or vacuum, and the pressure change over time is recorded.

The Pressure Differential Method (R) with reference volume is the most common method for leak testing. A reference volume – either a small internal volume or an external volume such as a master test specimen – is pressurized together with the test specimen. After the stabilization time, the pressure change between the two volumes is measured using a highly sensitive pressure difference sensor.

Optional Automatic Volume Determination (C)

As an alternative to the dosing method, the volume determination (C) is used to determine the volume of the test specimen. It offers the same pros and cons as the closed component approach.

A known pre-volume is filled or evacuated with a known test pressure and then expanded in the test specimen. The volume of the test specimen is determined with the resulting pressure.

The principle of volume determination can also be integrated into other measurement methods.
